MALE FERTILITY & SPERM HEALTH

Low Sperm Count or Poor Motility?

They are not the same problem — and understanding the difference can completely change what you do next.

When pregnancy takes longer than expected, many couples immediately begin looking for a problem on the woman's side.

But conception depends on both partners. Sperm quantity, movement, morphology and overall male reproductive health can all influence the chance of conception.

SEXUAL PERFORMANCE DOES NOT TELL YOU YOUR SPERM COUNT. A man may have normal erections and ejaculation while still having abnormal semen-analysis results.

WHEN MONTHS KEEP PASSING

You Can Be Having Sex Normally and Still Have a Sperm Problem.

This is one of the most important things men need to understand about fertility.

You may have normal sexual desire. Normal erections. Normal ejaculation. Your semen may even appear completely normal.

Yet none of these can tell you how many sperm are present, how effectively they are moving or whether other semen parameters are within expected ranges.

01

“My semen looks normal.”

Appearance cannot reliably determine sperm concentration, total count, motility or morphology.

02

“I don't have any symptoms.”

Some men with abnormal semen parameters have no obvious symptoms before laboratory testing.

03

“My partner must be the problem.”

Fertility involves both partners. Evaluating both sides can reduce unnecessary delay and repeated guessing.

LET'S MAKE IT SIMPLE

Sperm Count and Sperm Motility Measure Different Things.

Understanding the difference makes semen-analysis results easier to interpret.

#
SPERM COUNT

How many sperm are available?

Sperm concentration measures how many sperm are present in a given volume of semen, while total sperm count considers the overall number in the ejaculate.

When numbers are reduced, fewer sperm are available to potentially reach and fertilize an egg.

THINK: QUANTITY
→
SPERM MOTILITY

How effectively are sperm moving?

Motility describes sperm movement. Progressive movement is important because sperm need to travel through the female reproductive tract.

Sperm can therefore be present while movement remains an important fertility concern.

THINK: MOVEMENT
Medical illustration representing reduced sperm motility
POOR SPERM MOTILITY

Having Sperm Is Only Part of the Story.

For natural conception to occur, sperm have a journey to make. They need to move through the female reproductive tract toward the egg.

This is why sperm movement matters.

If a semen analysis reports reduced motility, the concern may not be the complete absence of sperm. It may be that an insufficient proportion are moving effectively.

Important: Reduced sperm motility does not automatically mean pregnancy is impossible. Fertility depends on multiple male and female factors.
THE GOAL

Ultimately, Sperm Must Reach the Egg.

Conception is a biological process involving both partners. Sperm quantity and movement are important pieces of that process, but they are not the only factors.

Morphology, reproductive anatomy, hormones, timing and the female partner's reproductive health can also influence conception.

That is why one semen-analysis number should not be viewed in isolation.

STOP GUESSING

A Better Starting Point Is a Semen Analysis.

You cannot reliably determine sperm count by looking at semen. You also cannot determine motility from whether semen looks thick or watery.

Laboratory semen analysis provides measurable information about several important parameters.

01

Semen volume — the amount of semen produced.

02

Sperm concentration — sperm per volume of semen.

03

Total sperm count — overall sperm quantity in the ejaculate.

04

Motility — how sperm are moving.

05

Morphology — sperm shape characteristics.

WHY CAN SPERM HEALTH CHANGE?

Sometimes There Isn't Just One Explanation.

Abnormal sperm parameters can have different contributing factors. Some involve medical conditions while others may involve lifestyle or environmental exposures.

01

Varicocele

Enlarged veins around the testicle can be associated with fertility problems in some men.

02

Hormonal Factors

Reproductive hormones play important roles in normal sperm production.

03

Infection or Inflammation

Certain infections and inflammatory conditions may affect male reproductive health.

04

Smoking

Smoking is associated with poorer reproductive health and can negatively affect semen parameters.

05

Excessive Heat

Repeated excessive heat exposure around the testes may interfere with sperm production.

06

General Health

Nutrition, metabolic health, medications and other health factors may influence reproductive wellbeing.

YOUR NEXT STEP SHOULD MAKE SENSE

Don't Spend Months Taking Random Fertility Products Without Knowing What You're Trying to Support.

If your semen analysis shows reduced sperm quantity, poor motility or abnormalities across several parameters, begin by understanding those findings.

Nutritional support may form one part of a broader fertility plan alongside lifestyle changes and appropriate medical assessment where necessary.

VicMos currently offers two AMS male fertility formulations with different areas of focus.

THINK BEYOND THE BOTTLE

Supporting Male Fertility Is Bigger Than Taking a Supplement.

Everyday habits and overall health matter too. Sustainable fertility support should look at the bigger picture.

01

Stop Smoking

Smoking is associated with negative effects on male reproductive health.

02

Avoid Heavy Alcohol Use

Excessive alcohol consumption can affect hormonal and reproductive health.

03

Reduce Excessive Heat

Repeated excessive heat exposure around the testes may interfere with normal sperm production.

04

Eat Well

Good nutrition contributes to general health and normal reproductive function.

05

Stay Physically Active

Healthy movement and metabolic health support overall wellbeing.

06

Investigate Persistent Problems

Supplements should not indefinitely delay appropriate investigation of persistent fertility concerns.

i
SOMETIMES YOU NEED MORE THAN NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT

Know When It's Time to Get Properly Assessed.

Consider appropriate assessment when abnormal semen results persist, particularly with testicular pain or swelling, suspected varicocele, hormonal concerns, sexual dysfunction, previous reproductive surgery or other significant health concerns.

When a couple has been trying unsuccessfully to conceive, evaluating both partners can provide a clearer picture than repeatedly focusing on only one person.

QUESTIONS MEN OFTEN ASK

Male Fertility FAQ

Can I have low sperm count without knowing?

Yes. Some men with abnormal semen parameters have no obvious symptoms. Semen analysis provides information that semen appearance and sexual performance cannot.

Is low sperm count the same as poor motility?

No. Count concerns sperm quantity while motility concerns sperm movement. Either or several semen parameters may be abnormal at the same time.

Can watery semen mean low sperm count?

Semen appearance alone cannot reliably diagnose low sperm count. Laboratory analysis is required to measure concentration, motility and other parameters.

Which AMS product is focused on motility?

VicMos presents AMS Motility Max as the nutritional-support option focused primarily on sperm motility and reproductive wellness.

What if my count and motility are both low?

When several semen parameters are abnormal, reviewing your complete results and health history is generally more useful than focusing on a single number.

Do these supplements guarantee pregnancy?

No. Nutritional supplements cannot guarantee pregnancy. Conception depends on multiple male and female factors.

What happens after I submit my order?

Your request is recorded by VicMos. You are then taken to a separate Order Received page containing your reference and instructions. VicMos contacts you to confirm delivery.
